Teachers Without Borders
Teachers Without Borders is a non-profit 501(c)3, non-denominational,

international NGO founded in 2000, devoted to closing the education divide through teacher professional development and community education. TWB works primarily, but not exclusively, in developing countries, in order to build self-reliance, health, and capacity. Nigeria has been, without question, the most active of all participating countries.

TWB focuses on teachers that constitute the largest single group of trained professionals in the world – over 59 million. Teachers are a key part to the future of our children. However, teacher training is often uneven, protracted, or unsupported. TWB provide assistance to teachers. The alternative is poverty, lack of development, and a gaping digital, educational, and economic divide. TWB believes the key to economic development and our young people's future is education, then teachers should have resources, tools, and access to the Internet, as well as each other.

Teachers Without Borders focuses on:

1) creating or adding value to Community Teaching and Learning Centers

2) creating or adding value to educators through our Certificate of Teaching Mastery

They also offer programs for youth, HIV-AIDS & health education, conferences (often between teachers from regions in conflict), and opening schools in displaced persons' camps. Teachers Without Borders has been successful in several other essential endeavors to close the education divide.

TWB's efforts have been acknowledged by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the Stanford Research Institute, and - most recently - by Cisco Systems. Cisco Philanthropy has awarded TWB with their prestigious Impact Grant reserved for "best of breed" non-profits. Cisco Learning Institute's 100% Charitable Partnership has given Teachers Without Borders the special opportunity of using their state-of-the-art elearning platform for their teacher training and community education endeavors.
